A couple of announcements. Now that the December workshops are over, it is time for another set in January before I leave town. These mini workshops will prepare you for the weekly evening classes that Kathryn and I are starting at the Hybrid Athletic Club. Saturday, 1/6/18 9am – 12 noon
- Fundamentals of Chen Style Taijiquan
This is an introduction to Chen Style Taijiquan. We start with stretching, followed by standing and then learn silk reeling exercises (SRE), to coordinate our movements through the core. Suitable for anyone who already knows another style of taijiquan.
Saturday, 1/6/18 2pm – 5pm
- 18 Movements Form
Created by Grandmaster Chen Zhen Lei, this is a subset of the long beginner’s form (Lao Jia Yi Lu – Old Frame First Routine). It builds upon the morning workshop. This is also suitable for anyone who have practiced taijiquan.

- Lao Jia Yi Lu – Old Frame First Routine
These 4 sessions will focus on the traditional beginner’s form learned in Chen Village. The form consists of 75 movements.. Each session will build upon the previous session unless you already know the form or other styles of taijiquan.
$25 per 3-hr session
Weekly evening classes on Wednesdays (starting Jan 10th, 2018)
- 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm – Fundamentals and Silk Reeling Exercise. Suitable for anyone interested in learning about Chen Style Taijiquan.
- 7:45 pm – 8:45 pm – Forms practice beginning with Lao Ji Yi Lu. Other forms will be added as the class progresses. Must know the fundamentals or other styles of taijiquan. Participants need to complete stretches themselves before class starts.
$10 per class for non-club members, $5 per class for club members
