Thu, June 19th / Silk Reeling Session

Suitable for any age, gender and no experience needed. Regardless of what you practice, you will find benefits from learning these basic exercises using single hand and double hands to coordinate your body’s movements. Core taiji principals distilled for easier understanding, this session will cover the basic energies of Peng (Ward off), Lu (Roll back), Ji (Crowding), and An (Press). All are welcome.

Fri, June 20th / Push Hands Session

Partner exercises bridge the gap between Taijiquan forms and combat / self-defense applications. These exercises are performed with both fixed and moving steps, focusing on “listening”, “yielding”, and “sticking” skills, as well as maintaining correct Taijiquan movement principle when interacting with an opponent / partner. We will demonstrate the 5 levels of Chen Style Push hands. Participants with learn and have the opportunity to practice levels 1-3 and possibly more if time allows. Suitable for everyone. Sat & Sun, June 21st and 22nd / Old Frame First Routine (Lao Jia Yi Lu) Sessions

Also known as “Lao Jia”, it is the mother of Taiji as most other styles trace their roots to it. Lao Jia is an excellent starting form, performed slowly with an occasional burst of “Fa Jing”, it is designed to promote concentration, condition the body and acquaint students with taiji movement principle.
