About

Welcome! My name is Khiang Seow (萧志強) and this site is dedicated to my ongoing learning and sharing of Chen Style Taijiquan.

Are you looking to learn Taijiquan (aka Tai Chi) but worried that it’s only for the elderly? I’m here to tell you that Taijiquan is for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level! My personalized training approach meets you where you’re at, so you can learn and grow at your own pace.

Chen Style Taijiquan is widely recognized as the oldest and most authentic form of Taijiquan, from which all other styles – including Yang, Wu, Wu Sun, and He – were derived. Developed in the 17th century by Chen Wang Ting, this comprehensive internal martial art system incorporates various forms and training methods that are still taught in Chen Village to this day.

I teach Taijiquan in the traditional style, just as it’s been taught in the villages where Taijiquan originated. Our approach is grounded in the principles of mindfulness, body awareness, and relaxation. We believe that Taijiquan is not just an exercise, but a complete martial art that can benefit your mind, body, and spirit.

As a practitioner of taijiquan and qigong, I have experienced firsthand the benefits that these ancient arts can bring to one’s life. I have gained not only physical health and wellness, but also personal confidence and a strong ethical foundation. Taijiquan is more than just an exercise for me – it is a way of life that has helped me to succeed both personally and professionally.

Our group is dedicated to promoting the traditional art and culture of Chen style taijiquan in Madison, Wisconsin. We strive to create a welcoming and engaging environment where students of all levels can come together to learn and grow. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, we welcome you to join us on this journey and help spread the joy of taijiquan. Let’s work together to promote wellness, mindfulness, and personal growth through the practice of this ancient art.

Some benefits of practicing Taijiquan include:

  • Improved balance and coordination

I am passionate about teaching taijiquan and passing on the knowledge that I have gained from my lao shi (老师 teachers). I believe that taijiquan can be learned by anyone, regardless of age or background, and I want to help dispel the notion that it is a mysterious or inaccessible practice.
